In the Footsteps of Colm Cille (St Columba)

A sensational series of new compositions by renowned Scottish fiddler, Paul Anderson, paintings by distinguished Scottish artist John Lowrie Morrison (Jolomo) and verse written by eminent Irish lyricist Francy Devine inspired by the Scottish Island of Iona.

This is the premiere of this new blend of arts. The event will include performances of the music and written word combined with Jolomo’s evocative paintings.

This is a unique, once only event.


Dr John Lowrie Morrison OBE (Jolomo), Artist

One of Scotland’s leading Expressionist Painter best known for his painting of the Scottish Landscape.

Born 1948 North Woodside. Glasgow

Classically trained at Glasgow School of Art. Fine Art Drawing & Painting.

1971 – 73

Involved in Scottish Education 1973 – 1998 .. from Head of Art & Design Lochgilphead High Argyll .. to Art & Design Adviser for Strathclyde Region and then Education Officer.

Involved for many years as an Art & Design Marker for The Scottish Education Department / SQA and an Art & Design Curriculum Development Officer for The Scottish Office.

Founded The Jolomo Foundation in 2006 to develop the Painting of The Scottish Landscape.

Vice President of the UK’s Carers Trust. 2011

Awarded an OBE in the 2011 Queen’s Honours List.

Awarded “The London Great Scot Lifetime Achievement Award.” 2017

Paul Anderson, MBE, Musician

Already something of a legend in the time-honoured fiddle tradition of Scotland, Paul Anderson is the finest Scots fiddler of his generation. In the tradition of many of Scotlands great fiddlers, Paul is a composer of some repute, having composed over 300 pieces in the Scots style. During his competitive career Paul won most of the traditional fiddle championships in Scotland and in 1995 won Scotland's premier fiddling event, the Glenfiddich Scottish Fiddle Championship.

Francis Divine, Irish Poet

Born in London, Francy was a Trade Union Tutor with the Irish Transport & General Workers’ Union/SIPTU in Dublin. His publications include Organising History: A Centenary of SIPTU, (Gill & Macmillan, Dublin, 2009) and, with John B. Smethurst, Historical Directory of Trade Unions in Ireland, (Irish Labour History Society/Working Class Movement Library, Dublin/Salford, 2017). His three collections of poetry are Red Star, Blue Moon (Elo Publications, Dublin, 1997); May Dancer (Watchword, Dublin, 2007); and Outside Left (Umiskin Press, Dublin, 2017). He has issued two CDs with Steve Byrne & Friends, My Father Told Me and An Ownerless Corner of Earth
