Pledge | Process | Planet – an art exhibition by Cairngorm Artists
Following its successful launch in May 2025, this thought – provoking exhibition will be hosted by St. Margaret's Braemar. All the works in the exhibition are from designers and artists based in the Cairngorms National Park and each artist offers a single sentence pledge connected to their own practice or process. The Gallery will be open daily from 10 am till 5pm, Friday 24 – Monday 27 October.
“Really interesting and inspiring. Thanks for letting us see.” Beau and Sandie, Paris
“What a lovely surprise – an inspiring exhibition. Interesting basis/idea and great to bring together local creatives and the natural environment of the area. Really, really, loved the embroidery.” Dawn and Dave, Greater Manchester
“Powerful and inspiring work. Positive in a world of negativity” Jeff
“Mindful in the best way” Denise
“Mind-blowing to see such world-class art right here in Grantown! Who knew..” Victoria, Houston, Texas
The touring exhibition has been made possible with funding from the #Cairngorms Trust and supported by the #Cairngorms2030 programme - made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players.
The exhibition aims to spark conversation and connect landscape and community, to inspire collective action on climate change. The exhibition forms part of the Cairngorms 2030 Community Arts and Culture project action plan, a two year programme of activity codesigned by a network of creative artists across the National Park.
Two public workshops will accompany the exhibition on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October, led by creative practices in the National Park and you can find further information here:
Workshop 1
Saturday 25 October 10.30am till 12.00noon
Draw a tree by Naomi Mcintosh
Using ink made from trees and employing tree branches and leaves as found tools, this session is a drawing meditation, exploring ways to perceive trees beyond sight.
We will begin with observing the sounds of being amongst trees, the feel of bark under our hands, and the scent of early autumn leaves. Drawing will not be about creating a finished outcome but about observing and responding to qualities discovered through our senses.
Workshop 2
Sunday 26 October 11.00am am till 12.00pm
by Sarah Hobbs
A walking workshop to collect the ‘living’ placenames of the high Cairngorms, as used by you – hill-goers, local residents, mountain enthusiasts and local historians - but which aren’t on any maps or recorded in any way. This workshop will be delivered by Sarah Hobbs. Please bring footwear and clothing suitable for a 1-2km walk.
